Our Beginning

“Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed – else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Our community was very fortunate to have WGEM and the Quincy Herald-Whig host our city’s fireworks display for several years. When those organizations could no longer host, the Quincy Tea Party stepped in to temporarily fill that void. They hosted the 2020 event, considerate of safety guidance during the pandemic, so that our citizens could still enjoy their Independence Day celebration.

In 2021, a group of citizen volunteers stepped up to form a new organization to provide the community with a street fair and fireworks show that everyone could enjoy. Thus, the Quincy Freedom Fest organization was born. With a mission to educate the public on both the history of our nation and its beginnings, our citizens enjoy 2 fun filled days of celebration and learning. All proceeds from the festival go back into the event for the following year. The partnerships and support from the community ensure a bigger and better celebration for Quincy and the surrounding area every year!
